Downtown Tinley Park welcomes tens of thousands of visitors each year with an exciting array of events to entertain families and friends winter, spring, summer and fall. Below is a list of major annual Downtown Tinley events. Downtown Tinley Park: Benches on the AvenueWhen: May 8th to October 1, 2014
Where: Along Oak Park Avenue in Downtown Tinley from 172nd to 176th

View 19 colorful benches designed with a fun family game theme created by local artists. Let the Games Begin! Tinley Park's Benches on the Avenue public art program has become one of the Village's most popular attractions, annually drawing thousands of residents and visitors to Downtown Tinley. The benches bring to life classic family board and traditional games. They feature the work of both amateur and professional artists, providing spots to rest, snap a photo and enjoy the fantastic creations while strolling through the downtown.

The winners of Tinley Park’s 10th annual Benches on the Avenue public art project were announced during the Aug. 24 Music in the Plaza event at Zabrocki Plaza.

The judging panel included Julie Dekker, Vogt Visual Arts Center Director; Karen Wegrzyn, Tinley Park Chamber of Commerce Executive Director; Mona Serpe, Tinley Park Garden Club President; Regina Ziemann, Moraine Valley Community College art appreciation teacher; JeanPaul Ferrer, Tinley Park Rotary Club President; Bill Vandermolen, St. George PTA; and Robbyn Yuen, of Creative Cakes.

Downtown Tinley Park: Music in the PlazaWhen: Saturday Evenings 7:00 - 10:00 pm June through September 2014
Where: Zabrocki Plaza near the Metra Train Station in Downtown Tinley at 174th and Oak Park Avenue

Enjoy a wonderful evening listening to music under the stars. Beverages are provided by the VFW including beer. Food is available for purchase or dine at a local restaurant before or after the show.

Downtown Tinley Park: Halloween Boo BashWhen: Sunday October 26, 2014, Noon - 3:00 pm
Where: Metra Train Station in Downtown Tinley at 174th and Oak Park Avenue

Dress up the kids and head out to the Downtown Tinley Halloween Boo Bash Sunday October 26th from noon – 3pm! Enjoy the children’s costume contest, trick or treating compliments of local businesses, games, crafts, photo ops, snacks, food and refreshments. Courtesy of DJ Heavy E, five bicycles will be awarded for costumes in "best of" categories including Scariest, Cutest, Homemade, Baby, and Family/Group.  Please spread the word about this fun event by sharing it with all of your friends!

Downtown Tinley Park: Toyland ParadeWhen: Saturday, December 7, Step-off at 11:30 a.m.

Where: 175th Street to Zabrocki Plaza.

Tinley’s Toyland Parade celebrates the official arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus. Our special guests will arrive at the Oak Park Avenue Train Station immediately following the conclusion of the parade. Children are encouraged to bring an unwrapped gift for persons of any age, to be donated to a local charity. A collection center will be located near the Holiday Market.

The Parade of Lights includes festive floats, vehicles, local businesses, community groups and school bands displaying the spirit of the season. Our guests from the North Pole will be making a special appearance.

Downtown Tinley Park: EasterWhen: Sunday April 13, 2014, Noon – 3pm
Where: South St. & 67th Court, just south of the Downtown Tinley Train Station

The second annual Downtown Tinley Bunny Hop will take place from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday. Most activities will be outdoors on 67th Court just south of the Oak Park Avenue Metra train station. Activities will include DJ entertainment, games, $1 cookie decorating and a visit from some adoptable dogs from P.A.W.S. of Tinley Park.

The American Legion will host a Spring Craft Fair at its facility, and admission is free. Crafts and vintage photos will be located at the Tinley Park Historical Society. The Vogt Visual Arts Center will host the Easter Bunny in its gazebo. Come prepared with your camera or camera phone to get a picture with the Easter Bunny!

Because this is a free event, there will not be a typical egg hunt. Kids will have a chance to find eggs at different activities as they hop through the event. Participants who wear an Easter bonnet or hat will receive a special prize from Odyssey Fun World. Please keep in mind that eggs and prizes will be available only while supplies last. In the event of inclement weather, please call the event hotline at (708) 444-5678 for event changes.
